Eva Portelance

Hi! I am an incoming Assistant Professor of machine learning in the department of decision sciences at HEC Montréal. My research intersects AI and cognitive science. I am interested in understanding how both humans and machines learn to understand language and reason about complex problems. I was a postdoctoral fellow at Mila — Québec Artificial Intelligence Institute and McGill University with professors Timothy J. O'Donnell and Siva Reddy. I completed my Ph.D. in computational/cognitive linguistics at Stanford University, where I was co-advised by Dan Jurafsky and Mike C. Frank. I'm an interdisciplinarian at heart!

My pronouns are she/they.
